Reduce Red Tape⁉️
At a candidates forum hosted by the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce and the League of Women Voters on October 4th, Janice Parvin, Moorpark mayor and candidate for the Ventura County Board of Supervisors District 4, made several comments on business regulations claiming that "We over-regulate" and that "I know how to streamline county regulations" and "I know how to reduce red tape." See video: 16:29, 45:10, and 45:24.
However, these claims are at odds with her record.
As an example, Parvin voted to establish a moratorium on new formula based retail businesses in Moorpark, then extended that moratorium, and then voted to add a layer of regulation on these chain stores wanting to locate on High Street. While she may know how to reduce red tape, she also knows how to use it.
Abe says, "Saying that you're in favor of cutting red tape may sound tough, but it's tougher to put into practice."
